Spring has sprung and racing season is upon us! The PCA club race at Watkins Glen is June 6th-8th. I have simplified the trip to Watkins Glen this year on June 7th. We will be meeting at the Waffle House parking lot in Clarks Summit at 8:00 for a drivers meeting and leaving at 8:15.
We will then take about a three hour drive on back roads with a fluid adjustment stop on the way to Watkins Glen international speedway to sign in for our 12:00 paced laps. For those of you that have never attended we get three laps around the track behind a pace car at highway speeds. There is no passing so you do not need helmets and children are allowed. We also stop on the front straight for a photo opportunity at the end .
The cost is $40.00 per car for the laps and you need to sign up on motorsportreg. Please call me if you have any questions or problems.
After the paced laps we can take a tour through the garage and see the race cars and drivers and Rico Diaz will give us some information about the club racing program. The rest of the afternoon we can spend watching the races or you can tour around town where there are many fun activities and shops.
The concession stand is usually open for lunch or you can go to one of the many nearby restaurants. I like to bring a sandwich so I can stay and watch the club racing.
Some of our members have expressed interest in staying over at Tioga Downs Casino and horse track. We checked online and found a deal for $179.00 for anyone interested. You can make those arrangements on your own and please let me know and I will try to get a group reservation for dinner.
